An Uneventful Travel Day–Texas to Mississippi

Monaco, Movietown RV Park, Canton MS
we like Movietown RV Park for an overnight stay.. .
it’s within easy reach of I55 between Jackson and Memphis
I get 4G with 3 bars with Verizon. . .they have fairly good wifi,
and pull throughs. . .$28.50 with a Good Sam Discount
low bridge clearance crossing the Sabine River from Texas to Louisiana
only one of THOSE moments. . .about an hour into our day.. .
crossing the Sabine River from Texas into Louisiana.

There had been signs posted, but we thought
surely there would be another way around the bridge. . .NOT SO!
and there was absolutely nowhere big enough
for us to turn around without unhooking the toad. . .
so we pulled off before the bridge and contemplated our options. . .
we knew we could drive back about eight miles to Hwy 87 and cross
Toledo Bend Reservoir just out of Hemphill. . .
but the logging trucks were rolling across this bridge just fine,
and their smoke stacks seemed higher than our rig. . .right?
so we decided that the 12’ 3” was measured at the side braces,
and that as long as we stayed in the middle we would be fine. . .
AND WE WERE. . .I told Dave. . .go real slow,
that way. . .if we bump it, we can back up and turn around.

Now, please know, we would have never tried it,
had we not seen the large trucks crossing. . .
it was fine. . .we are 12’ 6”. . .we had plenty of clearance. . .
State Line - Louisiana
Charlotte Beaugez, one of our Cajun Friends,
said they are trying to keep Texans out. . .ha ha!
Crop Duster
this is not a great pic, but this crop duster
seemed as though it flew RIGHT in front of this truck. . .
he crossed the highway before this truck got to him…
it seemed really, really close.. .maybe it was just an illusion. . .
and that was about it for our excitement.

Stopped and got fuel at Love’s in Tallulah. . .$3.92 for diesel
Mississippi RiverMississippi State Line
crossed the mighty Mississippi River
and rolled on in for our overnight stop. . .
off the road by three. . .supper cooked, done and finished for the day by five.. .
not too bad for a long travel day. . .
til next time,
Janice and Dave
