Beautiful Fall Weather in Texas

Not sure how long it will last. . .but it has been gorgeous weather the past few days. . .even the rain has been great!
blog pics
There are a few patches of what I am calling goldenrod left. . .
Butterflies
which the butterflies, or maybe moths, are loving. . .
blog pics
The pecan trees are loaded. . .so I decided to go for a walk and gather some. . .seems like it may be a couple more weeks before they really start falling. . .glad we are still going to be here. . .

Six Point - Thousand Trails RV Park
Mr Majestic Six Point posed for me. . .isn’t he gorgeous. . .sure hope he makes it through hunting season. . .

and I’m hoping perhaps one of the manly men might tell me what he is doing here. . .well actually, I have a fairly good idea that he himself is on the hunt. . .or maybe the prowl. . .but not entirely sure. . .ha ha. . .

Full Time RV Maintenance–Here We Go Again!

Every single time after we get the RV all hooked up, and ready to roll. . .
we take a moment, and ask the Lord to send angels of protection
to camp round about us, to protect us, and those on the road with us. . .

IMGP1977

So many times, when things have happened, as they always will. . .
it has been at an opportune moment in time. . .
at a place where we could pull over safely.

Once again, today, God in His infinite wisdom and mercy. . .
allowed us to get the rig all the way into the RV Park. . .
in fact, we were backing the rig into the space when the power steering went completely out!

It ends up being a very minor fix. . .thanks again Lord. . .but we could see where a hose was
spraying fluid out. . .and driving it to the repair shop didn’t seem like such a great idea. . .
and. . .that’s why we pay for roadside service. . .so here they are. . .hooking us up.

Since our truck is now 11 years old, we expect these types of minor inconveniences. . .
this time it’s an elbow in the power steering line, that rubbed against something,
and caused a hole. . .go figure.

We are teaching a ministry workshop in Austin this weekend. . .about two hours away.
Not sure why we needed to be delayed in our departure. . .
but age, wisdom, and a lot of hard knocks,
has taught me that God knows the reasons. . .so we’ll just go with the flow. . .
say a prayer that we will be a blessing this weekend!

Where Have the Years Gone?

Today, Morgan, my middle grand daughter turns 14. . .how can that be?

Breaunna and Morgan 1999

I’m pretty sure this pic was taken just the other day. . .certainly not 13 years ago. . .goodness!

IMGP1759

Miss Morgan is by far the most precocious of all our grandchildren. . .

there is never a dull moment when she is around. . .

here she is gathering seashells. . .still her favorite activity at the beach.

When we can get her to sit still and focus. . .she is quite the little artist. . .very, very creative!

I love you Mo Mo. . .Happy Fourteenth Birthday!

Full Time RV Living–Not a Lot of Fun Day. . .

So today was the day that we got to make an early morning trip
to Quest Diagnostics for bloodwork. . . yippee!  First, ya gotta fast. . .
which is not so bad, except that it means skipping the
morning coffee. . .since I like mine with creamer. . .and then. . .
so ya don’t hafta fast too long. . .you need to do an early morning appointment. . .
9 am is early people. . .early I tell you!  So now it’s done, and we just need to do
the annual checkups in a couple of weeks to get the results. . .yippee again!

Since we’re out and about anyway. . .and since the Anna’s Linens store close
to us didn’t have as many valances as I needed. . .
2006-01-13 Decorating, Levolor Blinds 003
and since I’m tired of looking at naked Levolor shades. . .
we may as well run over there and pick them up. . .
2006-01-13 Decorating, Curtains, Levolor Blinds 001
yes. . .success!

Hmmmm. . .that lampshade looks so cute draped in that valance,
I may just need to do a lampshade cover too. . .lol. . .we’ll see!

Anyway, getting curtains up will be my project while
Dave is teaching a class next week. . .another yippee!

I’ll share before and after pics once it’s done. . .

At least we have a nice treat to look forward to this afternoon. . .
meeting fellow RV’ers, Vickie and Bill of Sentimental Journeyz
at the Catfish place in Conroe, for an early dinner. . .
they just arrived back in the home country from New Mexico,
and we just arrived back from Colorado. . .
so we should have lots to talk about. . .
Later,
Janice

Full Time RV Travel–Trinidad Colorado–Trinidad Lake State Park–Carpios Cove Hiking Trail

Fisher's Peak - Elevation 9655 - from the Campground - Trinidad Lake State Park
What a beautiful place Trinidad Lake State Park has turned out to be. . .
a little pricey at $33 per night by the time they add in all the fees. . .
but for full hook ups and a great location. . .we’ll take it.

Last night I did one of those fancy dancy hikes. . .where there’s a sidewalk all the way around. . .
with nifty little placards telling you what everything is. . .above is the beautiful view of
Fisher’s Peak overlooking Trinidad Lake. . .which as you can probably tell. . .
is suffering from the severe drought Colorado is experiencing. . .
Horno Clay Oven - pronounced oar-no - Trinidad Lake State Park
Another interesting stop on my hike. . .

A Horno (pronounced oar-no) outdoor oven. . .made from clay and used by
Native Americans in past culture. . .
Spanish Peaks - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Peaks
Also visible from my hike was the Spanish Peaks. . .located about 20 miles away.
I’m sure you’ll be seeing them again. . .as I just know the sun setting behind them
will be absolutely breathtaking. . .I’m heading over there shortly for the experience.
Carpios Cove Hiking Trail - Trinidad Lake State Park
Today. . .about two o’clock. . .not sure what I was thinking?  I decided we should
go hike the Carpios Cove Trail. . .it’s only 1/2 a mile right. . .no problem. . .
and Dave was dumb enough to go along. . .LOL. . .

Mine Tailings - Trinidad Lake State Park
Originally, five mining towns were located in the valley where Trinidad Lake is now. . .
and mine tailings are still visible in the area. . .here is a not so beautiful view of one of those.
Janice hiking Carpios Cove Hiking Trail - Trinidad Lake State Park
We’re having a great time. . .I’ve lost 12 pounds this summer
just by hiking and walking. . .so I need to keep that up. . .

Lots more to see and do here in Trinidad. . .so stay tuned!

Catching up on the blog. . .
it’s hard to believe it’s only been a month since we did this gorgeous hike. . .

Not really being an outdoor, nature girl,
we were concerned about taking Bree
hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. . .

She seemed to love every minute of it. . .

Full Time RV Travel–a visit from the Grand

We offered all the grands a trip to Colorado to visit. . .
but, due to work schedules, sports schedules, and camp schedules,
(it’s crazy how busy these kiddos are,)
only one, our oldest grandaughter, Breaunna,
was able to take us up on the offer. . .so we picked her up at the airport on Saturday.
This was her first solo flight. . .and even with four delays she did beautifully. . .so proud!
Since getting out in a tourist area on the weekends is not usually a great idea. . .
we took it easy on Sunday. . .and started Breaunna’s sightseeing adventures on Monday. . .
First, a picnic lunch at a beautiful sculpture park in Loveland,
Breaunna's trip to Colorado by herself
Benson Sculpture Park is an amazing place. . .
we only saw a small fraction of the sculptures.
Art Castings of Colorado is located in Loveland,
so sculpting is a huge part of the local economy,
which is obvious everywhere in the city.
Being an artist, I loved it all. . .and so did Bree!

She asked me to teach her to paint. . .ha ha. . .no small task mind you. . .
but we spent lots of time “painting” when she was little and I had a workshop.
I would hang a long roll of paper out on the fence. . .
pull an old t shirt on over her clothes. . .and she would go to town.
She got really good at the Donna Dewberry style painting. . .
I’ll be getting all those tapes back out,
so she and I can practice while we are in Texas.
Breaunna's trip to Colorado by herself
My favorite. . .
